Re: CPS to Take Kids in Cases of Extreme Obesity
Yeah but my dear, how long can you assume that human beings have this supreme ability to keep self control all the time? Even the people who think they are controlled and alright are doing something wrong in some other area. Humans are fallible and our thinking is inevitably biased. You can say guns don't kill people, people do... but the data comparing a gun-toting society like the U.S. to a highly gun-controlled society like Japan or Korea says completely other wise (murder and robbery rates). Sometimes, a little Big-Brother control is a good thing.

Re: CPS to Take Kids in Cases of Extreme Obesity
I disagree with taking the children away unless it's proven that the parents are serious asshats and are completely irresponsible and supply them with a constant stream of junk food. T: I'd opt for health and nutrition classes, as well as free gym memberships (or possibly a monitored/mandatory program), otherwise. If it's a medical situation that is difficult or impossible to control, I'd opt for the same classes, but no danger of the child being removed. It ought to be more of a case by case basis. :/ I've got a hormone disorder and it's /always/ made me the fat kid. I rarely indulge and eat health. Exercise is never out of the question, too! Despite what I do, I never lose past a certain weight and never have. I doubt I ever will, to be honest. It doesn't stop me from trying. -shrugs- |
