 On several occasions, Elisa has left her group home for hours or days at a time to engage in sexual activity with men at a local truck stop.For days ? and no one searched for her as they app. knew she was at the truckstop on more than 1 occasion and have sex ? How they know she had sex there as she has the mental cap. of a 6 yo and when they know she's there having sex that would be the first place to search if she was missing. all weird a 6 yo can't make decisions to have consensual sex so they should of had her sterilized instead of now facing an abortion. |

The sterilization isn't just about Unwanted pregnancy. Forced Sterilization (Hysterectomy) was used in the past for Hygiene reasons as well. With that mental age they aren't really able to take care of that "Monthly" stuff.

My opinion: she should have the child, if her parents can support & care for both her & the child, that is their business. Adoption would be a good second option. Then sterilization after the delivery. I personally think 2 children should be enough & mandatory sterilization after#2. Thatz what I did but I am grateful that I had a choice in such a very personal matter. |

**good point...if they aren't keeping up with her whereabouts, they don't need another child that might wander off & get into trouble. If she has the mental capacity of a 6 yr old, she should never be allowed out of sight, much less associate with unknowns @ a truck stop. She could easily be killed. I change my vote- adoption!**

Sure is! But problems like that probably weren't even factored in before performing these procedures. (We are talking 50+ years ago) Fuck all effort had been put into helping these people for Centuries. Doctors manipulated their bodies to make care easier for the carers, with little to no thought put into the well-being of the patient. If Hormonal Imbalance and Hot Flushs were the worst she got, at least she's not bleeding everywhere.Teeth removal (Again, Hygiene and repeat biters!), Shaved heads, Sterilization, these were the norms 100 years ago. Lobotomies were still performed until the late 1970's. These people tend to get swept under the rug of society. Out of sight, Out of mind. Only recently has any real thought been put into the safety and rights of these people, and there is still a lot of work that needs to be done.  |
