Shayne Lund’s obsessive craving to kidnap, drug and rape small children was revealed in thousands of disturbing text messages and photographs released in court Thursday.
“I need a little’ un … I’m dying … I need my kinda fix,” Lund texted to his girlfriend Avery Taylor. “I swear I’m just gonna walk into the girls bathroom and grab one.”
The shocking details came out in a 100-page agreed statement of facts about the charges against Lund, 23, of Midland, and Taylor, 21, of Orillia.
Lund has pleaded guilty to 35 counts including sexually assaulting children, planning to drug and rape children, making child pornography and bestiality, while Taylor pleaded guilty to 11 counts.
In the countless texts to each other, Lund would refer to children as “lil’ ones.”
“Get me a lil one,” Lund would text, before describing in explicit, vulgar detail, what he would do to the children.
“Trust me hun, I’m trying so bad,” Taylor responded.
A college student at the time studying early childhood education, Taylor would often ask parents for access to children aged two to five for her school projects. She also discussed plans to open a daycare so they could have access to more children.
On one occasion, Taylor told Lund she had a child for a couple of hours.
“I got (the child),” she texted to Lund. “Let’s take her to the beach … we can get her in the water where no one will see.”
Their interaction with the young child was captured on Lund’s waterproof video camera, which he carried everywhere.
Lund touched the child sexually, Crown attorney Indy Kandola said in the agreed statement. “She struggled and screamed during these attempts.”
On another occasion, they blindfolded the child and Lund sexually assaulted her.
But they both agreed on needing to drug the child the next time.
“She’s too smart … as bad as I want her she’s a screamer,” Lund texts. “But insnly (sic) hot an nice body … mmm. We need to knock her out.”
Taylor and Lund planned to drug the child at the drive-in but on the night chosen, the unknowing parents were busy and the child wasn't available.
Several times Taylor sent Lund explicit nude photographs, since sealed by the court, of the children in her care as she dressed them or helped them use the toilet.
In one series of photos of a toddler, Lund responded in texts: “So so so good … f---in …close up … drives me wild.”
They also discussed in detail about one day having children of their own to be used as sex toys.
During his relationship with Taylor, Lund continued sexual relations with a string of other women and teens and he would use his other girlfriends to get access to their children.
Other text discussions included explicit details about sexual encounters with horses and dogs.
Police were alerted to his sordid plans when a 14-year-old girlfriend reported Lund asked her for access to a small child in her family in October 2013. Police seized computers and cellphones, but much of the material had already been deleted, court has heard.
The couple, along with another of Lund’s girlfriends, Kathryn Thompson, 21, of Orillia, who plead guilty to 11 similar counts, were ordered to have psychiatric assessments. The Crown has announced it will be seeking a dangerous offender sentence for all three.
The hearing is scheduled to continue Sept. 29.
