Couple Charged With Holding Woman Captive in Dog Cage to Impregnate Her
September 9, 2014 by Michelle Sigona On July 6, a mother of two in Indiana was reported missing. For two months, family and friends have been looking for Joelle Lockwood. According to 14 News, Lockwood is not only alive, but, police learned she had been held captive in a cage inside a mobile home since her disappearance. Reports said Lockwood was forced to wear a dog collar and leash and was held in a tiny wooden cage. 14 News said there were times Lockwood was allegedly tied to a bed with zip ties and repeatedly raped. But, according to FOX 13 Now, the entire ordeal was exposed when a man named Ronald Higgs visited the house where Lockwood was being held. Higgs paid a visit to his ex-wife Kendra Tooley and her new husband Rickey House, Jr. The ex-wife, according to Higgs, “slid over on the couch beside me and said, ‘I’ve got a girl back here in a cage’.” Higgs, according to the FOX report said, “What are you talking about?” That’s when he was shown the couples prize – missing mom Joelle Lockwood. Not only was Lockwood in a cage, but Higgs said she did not have any food, water, it was simply horrific. According to the FOX report, Higgs went on to say she was only wearing a dog collar and a t-shirt and she had a rope tied to the collar. Higgs said he attempted to buy her way to freedom, but that didn’t work. Apparently, the couple was keeping Lockwood until she had a baby because Kendra Tooley couldn’t have children. GOOD! The FOX report went on to say Good Samaritan Higgs tried to take Lockwood out of the trailer, but was met with a shotgun by Ricky House, Jr. It was an intense scene, according to Higgs, with Lockwood being beat by Tooley and Higgs trying to negotiate her way to freedom. Eventually, Higgs said he came up with a better plan – that plan entailed rescuing Lockwood and telling his ex-wife and her new husband he wouldn’t go to police. “I actually think they believed I wasn’t going to do anything about it,” the FOX report said. “I’m 61 years old and I don’t even cry at funerals, but I busted out crying like a baby,” Higgs said and of course, he did the right thing. Not only was Lockwood rescued, but, the suspects were arrested and tons of evidence was collected. Together, according to reports, House and Tooley are facing 24 charges together including rape, confinement, kidnapping and much more. Reports say both are expected to appear in court again on October 1. Police say Lockwood was reunited with her family on Saturday evening. |
