Yep, pretty much..... It really wasn't so much a decision to give up the land as much as a necessity. What happened there is considered by many to be the first successful terrorist campaign, in order to drive out the British. The percentage of people living in that area 100 years ago that were Jewish was much, much lower than what it is today. Using a part of South America as a Jewish homeland after WW2 was even discussed, and in hindsight probably would have worked out much better. The only historical claim to ownership of the area going back 2k years is religious texts, the land had changed hands so many times throughout history its impossible to really say that one has more claim than another. |

Judaism is a religion. Being of Jewish ancestry is an ethnic group. You don't have to be a Jew to be Jewish. And you don't have to be Jewish to be a Jew. Also there are 12 other tribes who claim Israelite ancestry and many people are of several backgrounds.

So now you are going to be all racist? Then what happened to those who do have a claim? The original Jewish people? And do you at the same time exclude those of Israelite descent? And are you willing to exclude Arabs, Egyptions, Syrians, Iranians, Sudanese, and other ethnic groups? And what of all the hundreds of thousands of Jews who are from the middle east? Who were expelled from the Muslim countries? Must they go back to the muslim countries from which they were expelled? Where their children were abducted and many of their relatives murdered, homes taken and synagogues burned? The Iraqi Jews? The Iranian Jews? The Tunisian Jews? The Yemenite Jews? And what of all the Ethiopian Jews who claim direct descendence from King David and have always kept the Torah? And what also of the Jews who never left and even have original synagogues and to this day use the ancient Aramaic Torah and still speak Aramaic? Where should they go? There are 57 Islamic nations and only one Jewish homeland. A muslim has a choice of 57 homelands. |
