PINAL COUNTY, Ariz. -
A convicted felon was released from prison for exactly one hour and six minutes before allegedly being caught with a gun and marijuana at a truck stop and sent to jail.

A Pinal County Sheriff's Office K-9 deputy stopped a vehicle near I-10 at the Flying J Truck Stop after the driver allegedly committed several traffic violations on Thursday.

When the deputy approached vehicle, PCSO says the passenger, 34-year-old Daniel Clegg, had marijuana flakes all over his shirt.

According to PCSO, Clegg was nervously and desperately wiping the pot from his shirt onto the floor.

Clegg allegedly claimed the flakes weren't marijuana, but the deputy could smell the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle.

Deputies say Clegg had just been released from the Arizona Department of Corrections Prison in Florence at 8 a.m. Thursday morning.

The deputy and his K-9, Torro, found marijuana underneath the passenger's seat and rolling papers in a side door pocket during a search.

In addition, PCSO says the deputy found a fully loaded handgun with hollow point bullets sitting on top of Clegg's prison paperwork.

PCSO says Clegg is a convicted felon and is unable to possess a gun.

Clegg was free for exactly one hour and six minutes before being arrested and booked into the Pinal County Jail for possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and misconduct involving a weapon.
