Re: Confederate License Plates in Texas?
I hope it passes only because this politically correct bullshit that we live with everyday infringes on our freedom. It is to pay respects for men who fought in a war that they believed in. Sure there are negative connotations with it but cripes you could say the same thing about a cross as they used to have cross burnings to show racial hatred. |

Re: Confederate License Plates in Texas?
In Australia we associate that flag with the General Lee, a 1968/69 Dodge Charger from the Dukes of Hazzard. I also associate it with a small victory i had about 20 years ago when i bought a spit roast BBQ lamb sandwich from a stall run by scum arsed bikers that jewed out on the lamb. 1 pissant slice of lamb and they laughed at me. While they were all busy i stole their rebel flag and i still have it. I displayed it for years to remind me to always seek revenge when wronged, and i am now using it as a dust cover for my tool box.

Re: Confederate License Plates in Texas?
Of course not. You have to know that being white in and of itself prevents you from being able to complain about anything, right? I get that you're joking, but the only single reason I placed such emphasis on my statement was because this is a topic about the Confederate battle flag and racism. Of course, the race that is often on the receiving end of racism in the South and especially during the short-lived Confederacy was black people. I harbor no ill will towards any race simply due to their race. You have got to be kidding me. Slavery was at best a tangential issue to the secession of the Confederate States. Lincoln wanted to make the war about slavery, and the winner writes the history books. |

Re: Confederate License Plates in Texas?
It is a flag which many people died fighting under and some may still consider to be important to their heritage. If they want to have it they should have the right to, just like people that do not like it have the right not to use it. As i said before, you have to respect other peoples rights if you value your own, or be prepared to lose everything. I say decriminalise everything except for rape, murder and theft, and let people do what ever they want as long as it does not effect others. Vote Blewvane as Overlord of Earth. |

I'm not saying they shouldn't have the right to put what they want on their cars, I just don't like that the state is even considering it because I think the flag is an obsolete symbol.
