Re: College Student Commits Suicide Following Cyberbullying Over Porn
Since when did anyone say it was your fault? I'm not mad at it, so why are you? Sober up? So because I don't watch porn 24 hours a day and know all the porn star names, I'm a bad parent and my marital status is laughable? You make no sense. |

No, because you're actually responding in a relatively rational manner. My point was that despite MR's previous occupation, insight is still insight. To dismiss it out-of-hand with no prior firsthand knowledge of your own for the sake of slut-shaming the deceased would seem just a tad bit hypocritical were you yourself now or ever in the past a patron of the same industry that paid her to make what in retrospect turned out to be a bad decision. |

Re: College Student Commits Suicide Following Cyberbullying Over Porn
But those people that make fun of people, ridicule, and frustrate people... how do they look when we read their posts... Their actions speak for themselves. They want to look like tough internet bullies, ignorant, negative... etc what does that really say about them... it doesn't make them look any better which means I really shouldn't care. I wouldn't want to be friends with those kinds of people anyways. Nor do they benefit me in any kind of way. I do support this site though! whoo go DR. Look at people like Miley Cyrus and the video "Wrecking Ball" look at Kim Kardashian and her video that leaked out. Do you think that all the negative controversy affected them that much? Look at a lot of porn stars and other sex workers... Every day people bully celebrities about the negative things they do. Do you think that it affects them that much because while some people hate on them other people become fans. The more controversy the more the media and THAT CELEBRITY profits off of us. Miley's fame as a Disney star was dying since she got into adult hood... BOOM sex sells... I didn't really know who she was til all the stuff started popping up left and right. The reason why I think (opinion) she might of killed herself is because she MIGHT have lacked a support group. Even when I was in the adult entertainment, my REAL friends didn't care that much on what I did as long as I was safe. When my REAL friends did some stupid stuff like tried ecstasy, or got wasted at a bar, or woke up with a complete stranger in bed I didn't lecture them how stupid they were and left them... I was there for them. Pulling my friends hair back to vomit the alcohol poisoning, made sure she went home with me.. etc... support and acceptance is important. Maybe this girl lost her "so called friends" or didn't have any at all. It is all about support. I also had my mom who I was comfortable telling about what I was doing. Even if she HATED, the fact that I was an escort she was always there for me so if I felt down or if I felt like I needed to get out or had a bad day I could always drive 3-4 hours to come home where she would hand me a bowl of ice cream and watch Prison Break or something and make me feel better. She understood the reasons WHY I was doing what I was doing and knowing that your family is there for you no matter what also can make a difference. Maybe her family punished her, put her down, didn't give her a hug or two... that MAY be another reason people feel like ending their life. There can be so much possibilities. Everyone has choices to get away from the negativity too. Whether moving, going to a different school, therapy, playing video games, or working out to get the depression out of the system. The article also mentioned that she was a straight A student which the article didn't mention if her grades dropped since the bullying started or signs of depression. These articles don't always tell us all the facts or if it was indeed a suicide or a set up murder for suicide. You should read and listen to the article, but only believe very little in what media tells us. |

Re: College Student Commits Suicide Following Cyberbullying Over Porn
I also refuse to believe that any of you are as high and mighty and pure as you'd like me to believe when it comes to human sexuality and the decisions it leads to. It is, for the most part, something with which every civilized person comes to grips at one point or another in their life. Anger, vitriol, and hatred expressed in response thereto are often symptoms of a very unhealthy attitude overall.

Re: College Student Commits Suicide Following Cyberbullying Over Porn
I thought it said in the news piece that her dad was a POS and not in her life? I see her mom has spoken out, but seems like she's more interested in collecting money on the behalf of her deceased daughter. Which says a lot. I just don't understand how someone who wants privacy would make porn videos? If you want to stay anonymous porn probably isn't the route to go. You face a fine line as a friend when it comes to helping make sure your friends don't make decisions that will harm them now and in the future, not being judgmental and the best way to support them. I hope she wasn't looking to find friends in the porn business. |

Re: College Student Commits Suicide Following Cyberbullying Over Porn
So those of us who choose not to open our legs to everyone are unhealthy? I think not. Because I choose not to open my bedroom door for all to see how I spend time with my husband is how I like it and that doesn't make me unhealthy either. I don't think not actively throwing support parades for those in the sex industry is cruel or mean. Many of these people are exploited and need help in other ways - I don't think those include helping them do more porn. |

Re: College Student Commits Suicide Following Cyberbullying Over Porn
Thank you. :) After I graduated high school it was hard to get a good paying job after the whole 2006 economy started going down hill and the job I had was stressful, no set hours, at minimum wage, it was hard paying rent/bills and I needed to go to school, but the problem was my parents made too much money for me to get financial aid and the rules here was if I didn't get myself together by age 24 I could apply for it. So I had to come up with money another way at age 21. I could of got a loan, but I am watching my friends pay off loans 20 years later working at grocery stores in this this economy. This was my choice not anyone else's. If someone doesn't like it, don't live it. I also read you have daughters. I hope the best for you and your babies. Remember to always listen to what they say that is always signs. Along with being supportive no matter what they do and help them out of the situations. No one is perfect. There is this judgmental story. Where a girl slept with a lot of men for money and they were to punish her by throw rocks at her. Then God said everyone throw a rock who hasn't ever sinned in your life. No one was able to throw the rock. I was open enough to tell my story not because I want to play some sort of victim, but to show lessons, to learn something that others probably wouldn't be comfortable to tell you. |

Re: College Student Commits Suicide Following Cyberbullying Over Porn
Are you even reading what I'm posting, or do you just have a penchant for twisting words? This is the second time you've read the completely wrong meaning into what I've said. I never said anything about you slutting out or society revering pornstars. All I said was that people who get worked up over the decisions that others make with their own bodies are probably not as healthy as they would like to believe. Oh, and your interpretation of the responsibilities of friendship are pretty fucked-up in their own right. You can't prevent anyone from making their own decisions. Your friends are not your children; they are not there to be disciplined and controlled. Friendship is based upon the acceptance, of the whole person; which is why true friendship requires strength. Anyone who fails to realize that is no one's friend. |
