I know that pointing a BB gun at a person where I live falls under pointing a firearm........ It's considered a firearm if you're using it for a criminal purpose........ I think replicas have been banned too, because people were using them in robberies........ I don't know how a Cop could be expected to know if it's a real gun or not in a split second........ Bottom line is don't point anything that looks like a gun at a Cop, because it's a great way to get shot.

Replicas are allowed, only to the extent they must be sold and maintained with the orange indicator tip to get to the home the first time. I believe a few states have actually had some talk or perhaps proposals of laws that make it a petty crime to remove the tip and go out of the house with it - but I forget the title of the laws proposed. Misdemeanor mischief perhaps? Something along those lines. Currently, it's only illegal to initially sell the weapon without one, but I think you can eBay the modded ones because it's no longer an initial sell.

BB guns - last I knew - were not under the orange tip rule, because they are considered weapons in the commission of any crime, but they fall outside of regular gun purchase rules too, so they aren't required to be tipped, nor are they required to be licensed, etc.

There's still a lot of gray area with toy guns, BB/pellet guns that anyone playing around without that tip is not acting all that smart.

That's utter & complete BULLSHIT.

Any adolescent carrying & pointing an extremely realistic looking AirSoft weapon (which is neither a "toy" nor a "replica") at another person would get the exact same treatment regardless of skin color: they'd get shot.

In fact, there's a 13 year old who was shot for the very same reason half-way across the country. Here's the proof from a Leftist rag that shares your jilted, racist outlook: the Huffington Post.

According to police stats, 28 people were killed by police carrying a bb or pellet gun in 2015.
