Re: Chris Brown's Curbside Art Scaring Neighbors
I have to agree wth you "what kind of bs law is this?" about painting murals on privare property. near me is a city that there is a city ordinance that states houses must be painted in earth tones. give me mexico where people paint their homes in bright colors of the rainbow and don't considerate an eye sore. some places it is illegal to grow a garden in your lawn area. or you can't park a car on your lawn. or you can't have a pet goat or pot bellied pig. you may as well rent because as a home owner you have no rights to do what you want with the property you paid for. even on the inside, you have rules. some are for safety but others? here you can't have more than 4cats or 4 dogs or a combo of dogs and cats over 4. perhaps it is to protect animals from hoarders but is 5 or 6 healthy apayed/neutered cats hoarding? here there is also a law as to how high your fence can be (no higher than 5 ft?)which is better than where I use to live where you were not allowed to put up a fence on your property line unless it was a decorative fence only 2 or 3 ft tall. damn it, if I owned a house I would think I should have the right to paint it red and blue, put up an 8 ft chain link fence around it, park my car in my garden that feeds my pet goat in front of my house, and have a dozen well cared for 100% indoor only, healthy altered cats in my home. as long as my cats don't go outside and shit in someone elses yard and my goat isn't eating someone elses lawn furniture and i'm not parking my car on someone elses lawn then it shouldn't concern them. oh and those devilish pictures on that wall are really scary. what do the parents do with their kids on Halloween night? drug them up to save them from being frightened? to take it one step further, schools and kids hair styles/color. for being in the land of the free, we sure aren't very free to show our individuality when it comes to harmless things that do not effect others than perhaps what their own brain allows. even nudity. to me, that is an issue that shouldn't be one. we were born naked. if nudity wasn't an issue and clothing was optional, it make take a few generations for it to happen but I believe that in time nudity would be acceptable and not given a second thought. but really, one should be able to do what they want with their property as long as it isn't a safety violation or pornographic. don't fence me in... not with that fence! |

Re: Chris Brown's Curbside Art Scaring Neighbors
You missed the point. Reread my OP- Like I said, I don't know a thing about Chris Brown. I just thought the article was funny. And though I couldn't care less that he's the one getting fined, the law applies to everyone. The idea of fining someone for not keeping any property up to their neighbors aesthetic demands is ludicrous. You can't go to a mall and fine someone for dressing like a moron. Obscene material is of a different nature, but if I want to paint a giant sunflower on the side of my house, and my neighbor just thinks it's ugly, should I be penalized for it? |
