Chinese Blogger Saves 1,137 Dogs From Becoming Dinner
![]() http://www.ilovedogs.com/2012/01/chi...coming-dinner/ With some help from local police, a dog-loving blogger intercepted a flatbed truck in Chongqing, China, last Monday and rescued 1,137 dogs on their way to the slaughterhouse. The dogs were crammed together in filthy cages stacked high on top of one another. The blogger, who goes by the name of Peng, is a volunteer with the Chongqing Small Animal Protection Association (HNAPA). He and other volunteers took the dogs to an abandoned pig farm, where they were provided with food, water and medical attention. China Daily reports that by Thursday, 16 of the dogs had died, and 30 were being treated in veterinary hospitals. One animal advocate loaned his 1,000-square-foot warehouse as temporary housing for the dogs. Donations have been pouring in, and there is now almost a month’s supply of food. Chen Mingcai, director of HNAPA, told China Daily that about 20 percent of of the dogs – particularly the Huskies and Chows – are likely to find forever homes because they are desirable breeds. However, Chen added that finding a permanent home for the remaining 800 dogs seemed “an unattainable task” for HNAPA. “At least a 1.3-hectare (3.2-acre) area with dog houses is needed for them to have comfortable lives,” he told the China Daily. “Now I am thinking about calling for more social donations to build dog houses.” As the popularity of pet parenting continues to grow in China, so does opposition to the slaughter of dogs and cats for food. Legislation that would outlaw this practice is under consideration by the Chinese government. In the meantime, China Daily reported last May that two animal welfare groups paid a dog trader $13,000 to save nearly 800 dogs being delivered to restaurants. In September, for the first time in 600 years, a dog-eating festival was banned due to public outcry. |

I remember watching a program about this years ago (i must of been about 10 or 11) and the video showed them cunts unloading the dogs off the back of a truck, about 5 of them crammed into a tiny cage which would be big enough for a cat on it own and instead of picking the cages up they just pull them off the back of the flat bad and let them land on the floor with all the dogs squeeling and barking. Fucking dirty trade if you ask me

Dogs are no smarter than pigs.... I've never eaten dog but I don't see what the big deal is. I am going to visit Korea this year and I plan to try dog meat for myself. Woof woof.

One thing I do find interesting is the sort of delicacy these people speak of. I wouldn't eat battery hen meat and comparing those dogs to a battery hens condition I know for a fact the chicken is prime steak in comparison. |

Lol there was a Thai place around here that got in trouble a while ago for catching ibis (a wild bird that eats rubbish and anything it can scavenge) and selling it on the menu as chicken! And I've heard of Asian restaurants using the pound (or whatever equivalent the country may have like RSPCA etc) as a cheap and in many cases free source of meat. Yum yum yum lol.

I never thought I'd see a black president but check it out, America has one... And the country I live in has a woman prime minister! Crazy!!! I guess it's only a matter of time before animals are elected officials as well... Even if you think this is unlikely I don't think they'd do a worse job than Obama |
