It's disgusting how little care people have until it's too late Although for this 14 year old in particular i wonder if the adult responsible for her reported this to the park. In fact I wonder just how many formal proper complaints they got because most people usually don't bother to waste their time even if you can just insist a supervisor on the ride does it themselves through radio. Meh i dunno. Humans... |

I'm sure people probably didn't give it too much thought that the ride was potentially that dangerous for the two years it was up and running. Sounds like a freak accident that was eventually bound to happen with the questionable design, tight weight requirements, and failing harness equipment. This type of situation must have seemed pretty improbable or they probably would have designed the enclosure differently. Or maybe they just didn't give a fuck. Who knows, but that ride will likely be torn down. Has anything like this ever happened before?

A quick Google search reveals quite a few deaths at water parks from extreme water slides/rides/etc.

So I was reading more about this and found pics. The netting is actually netting, not wire. I think he must have been decapitated by the metal frame that the netting was on. Those fools that designed this should have known exactly what it would do! The image below shows the boat speeding down the slide on that Hill... That would be where he was killed, if his body slid down the far side after the raft  Heads should roll lol  ·  ·  ·

Velcro only works so many times before its so fuzzy it doesn't stick anymore.. Wet Velcro.. Forget it! But what they will do is change the restraints (though they are limited due to potential drowning aspect, so has to be quick release) and then they will reopen the ride next year. And of course people will go on it

This is pretty much their main attraction, and from what I know from living here in KC, they were already struggling to get people to the park. Now I imagine it will likely be shut down entirely within the next few years. I don't think they'll be able to recover from this.

There's a water ride here in the UK that a girl died on a few years ago (the only ride/coaster in the UK that anyone has died on), it wasn't closed down - just "updated" with new safety features.
