Our vicious butch **** of color Chicago Mayor has denounced white men with bats:

CHICAGO — Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot said the city will not tolerate vigilantism after groups of mostly white men patrolled the streets of the Bridgeport neighborhood on Wednesday night in response to a nearby city protest.
Multiple streets were blocked in the Bridgeport neighborhood Wednesday night as nearby protests dispersed. Near West Pershing Road, water gushed from an open fire hydrant as small groups gathered on corners. Some of the men held bats. One wore a shirt that said “All Lives Matter,” one sipped a beer and another waved at an officer as he drove by. Additional groups of people, some armed with bats, lined West 31st Street.
Asked about the situation in Bridgeport, a diversifying neighborhood that served as an Irish American power base for the Daley political family, Lightfoot said, “It is absolutely not appropriate for people to take up arms, bats, pipes, whatever in patrolling neighborhoods.”

“We’ve seen that end with tragic results across the country and we’re not about to allow that practice to happen here in Chicago. If there’s an issue, call 911,” Lightfoot said. “I absolutely support neighbors being vigilant as to what’s going on on the streets and in their blocks but taking up arms, that leads to chaos and we’re not supporting vigilantism in the city of Chicago under any circumstances.”
The situation in Bridgeport frightened and angered many residents and activists who expressed concerns about racism and violence.
Ald. Patrick Daley Thompson, 11th, released a statement calling for calm.
“I support peaceful protests, demonstrations, and people’s right to voice their feelings at the murder of George Floyd. We should all be upset! Our country was founded on peaceful protests,” wrote Thompson, a grandson and nephew of former Chicago mayors. “The peaceful protests have unfortunately been tarnished and overtaken by outside organizations, whose primary goal is to cause harm to local businesses and neighborhoods. It is those anarchists and terrorists that were creating fear throughout our community.”

The “few residents” who carried weapons “were wrong,” Thompson said, and added, “I have not, do not, and will not condone vigilante violence and intimidation.”

wow. how stupid can you get. your city burns and there are riots in the streets and you condemn the law abiding citizens who arm themselves with melee weapons to dissuade the "peaceful protestors" from bringing their destruction to the neighborhood.

nice job, mayor. maybe come down from your castle without you security squad and see how you feel about leaving your neighborhood defenseless and at the mercy of the local police department's response time. not like there is chaos in the street that would hold them up or anything. oh wait....

I really don't understand the people who continue saying "we should all be upset" or outraged at what happened to Floyd.

Well, I'm not. I think its fucked up. I hope the cop gets punished. But I was never upset or outraged. This guy is a career criminal, he was on some serious drugs, was resisting arrest, mouthing off and otherwise being difficult.

These people are acting like the cops just plucked him out of his car just for being black. Like, he didn't do anything to have this interaction. And we all, or all black people are in danger of this happening to them.

When it's almost always something that happens only when you're breaking the law, and resisting arrest. And even when you're doing that, the chances of being killed are very, very slim.

But the remedy is easy. So black mothers, who go on TV and say they have to teach their black children how to not get shot by police. And how careful and worried they need to be.

This is all you need to do. To basically insure your children will not be killed by police. Tell your children to not break the law. I know, I don't ask for much. Tell them to stay away from people breaking the law, don't use or sell drugs. And if the police roll up on you. Just stay calm, do what the ask you to do, and again, just be calm. If you did break the law, you are caught. So be a man, and accept you're caught. And fight it in court.

And you will live through a police incounter. So, so easy.

Just saw a story that 81 people murdered in Chicago last month. I believe it said 18 murders happened in a 24 hour period.

And the mayor is worried about people protecting their neighborhoods.

The 18 murders in 24 hours is the most ever for 40+ years in Chicago IIRC. You wonder if the police in Chicago are avoiding contact with the public and crime is skyrocketing as a result. Why should they strain themselves, if they get into trouble, the mayor won't back them up. There was a recording of our Chicago mayor talking to other gov.org officials, she was saying Chicago can't loose it's Wal Marts and CVS pharmacies. If I was a business in Chicago that got looted, I would ask the mayor to pay for the damages before I re-opened. That ain't gonna happen because each Illinois taxpayer owes $70,000 USD, mostly from state pension liabilities...
