He wasn't convicted of murder he was convicted of conspiracy to commit murder he was the catalyst for it all, he drove them to their victims houses, he even tied up the victims at the LaBianca home, so yes he was guilty and then some.

Not for nothing, but the 'Tate' house was razed and now looks completely different from the original French country-style structure built in 1944. Additionally, the street address was changed (due to notoriety) and the property now sports a 7.5' gate around the property. Interestingly enough, Trent Reznor was the last occupant of the home and recorded most the Nine Inch Nails album "The Downward Spiral" in '93. When he moved out he took the front door of the house with him , installing it at Nothing Studios, his new recording studio/record label headquarters in New Orleans.
