Re: Casino Sues Poker Star Phil Ivey for Card Cheating
Casinos are the most corrupt and ridiculously run places on the planet. These casino's are just organized crime. You can't "beat" the system for this amount of money and get away with it. Ivey knows this more than anyone. He probably could have walked away after 5 mil without any repercussions.

Re: Casino Sues Poker Star Phil Ivey for Card Cheating
Its not against the law but its against house rules. There is no law against counting cards yet you can't do it. You can beat the house, you can beat the bookies that is the problem. Poker even in a tourn is viewed as someone elses money so you can get away with it. Not so in other 'games'. If you are good you are OUT. Hence we know famous poker playes yet cant name a blackjack 'high roller'. The real threat to bookies is 'laying off' and 'live money' and it may be legal but the house can refuse a bet. With enough start up money you can have races were no mater the outcome, you win. You make bets on the odds, your bets change the odds, you then can either make bets on the new odds or offer odds against the the bets already made. |
