Canadian Filmmaker Replaces False Eye with Wireless Video Cam:Eyeborg A Canadian film-maker has replaced his own false eye with a camera. ![]() Rob Spence lost his right eye when he was 13 while playing with his grandfather's gun on a trip to Ireland. The 36-year-old Spence had the eye removed in 2005 after years of deterioration and had a prosthetic inserted. Now he's replaced the prosthetic with a wireless video camera that runs on a tiny three-volt battery. The camera has a wireless transmitter that allows him to transmit what he is seeing directly to a computer. It's reportedly a weak signal right now but a stronger transmitter is in the works. Spence, who calls himself the "Eyeborg guy" says he's hoping to use his camera eye to record "truer" conversations than what would be possible with a handheld camera. |

Re: Canadian Filmmaker Replaces False Eye with Wireless Video Cam:Eyeborg If it's true that's potentially awesome once they develop the technology further find some practical applications for the device ! Reminds me of something EYE found the other day, behold the Cyborg-Eye: ![]() |

Re: Canadian Filmmaker Replaces False Eye with Wireless Video Cam:Eyeborg Nerves transmit electrical impulses....and Im sure someone is working on making damaged nerves controlling limbs work again, so no...this is not such a stretch....still a stretch because even if something actually WORKS....the FDA and all of the alphabet of controlling agencies....along with HRISTIANS in tthis country will whine about it...The Christian Fundamentalists will say its against Gods will...bla bla bla....and the agencies will have some kind of a pissing contest as usual. |

Re: Canadian Filmmaker Replaces False Eye with Wireless Video Cam:Eyeborg This technology has been known for years, implanting cameras in place of an eye, and using weak electric signals to the hind brain, where light images are processed. It's by no means anything new. It's just that it's not been perfected for mass use. |
