Well, I don't think many of would expect a training partner to rip out our heart while still beating. It's unexpected. The victim probably didn't know what to do. It's one of those WTF? moments.

I would say that for shrooms to cause something like this that the person would have to already have a propensity to being evil. He must have already had the evil devilish subconsciousness to create such thoughts.
