Even though you are being put through hell, a psychological dependence happens with time. If you have no options, no help, nobody to call, you don't know the area or anyone in it, etc... Plus, he was made an alcoholic. Other victims of this kind of thing are commonly drugged; especially if it's a woman/sexual slave type of scenario. So he runs away, and DTs start, and he has no idea how to get help, and is terrified, and has been psychologically brain-washed, tormented and traumatized. He's afraid of homelessness, of death. It's kind of like Battered Women's Syndrome times a million. You have no idea how fucked up this poor guy is. He probably didn't even tell anyone anything at the hospital; I'll bet someone with half a brain recognized the signs and stepped in. Poor guy.  |
