Investigation launched by MoD into 'very serious allegation'

A British soldier fighting in Afghanistan has been accused of cutting off the fingers of dead Taliban fighters - which he then kept as 'macabre' souvenirs.
The squaddie, from the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders, is said to have carried out the horrific ritual during the battalion's last tour which ended in April.
It which will provoke anger amongst Muslims who are traditionally buried with all their body parts.

The Ministry of Defence has launched a probe into the 'very serious allegation' - and has tasked the army's elite Special Investigation Branch to look into the shocking accusations.
A source told the Sun: 'These allegations have rocked the battalion. That said, they are being kept very hush hush for obvious reasons. Only one soldier is said to have been involved.
'The Afghanistan tour was his first one and it's possible that the stresses of that made him do these horrific things.'

How horrible!!! cutting fingers off of the dead enemy! Taliban has every right to get upset. there are certain rules one must follow when in a foreign country. (sorta like when in rome, do as the romans do except this isn't rome.)

1. do not violate the dead. Use a living specimen.
2. when cutting on the body, don't piddle around with extremities or digits. go for the head.
3. use a dull knife. sharp knives quicken the job and therefore lessens the drama for all.
4. always be thankful... thankful that you have a victim and thankful you have a knife at the same time. praise god for this wonderful opportunity and keep repeating as you hack on the neck... "allahu akbar! allahu akbar!" (translation: god is great!)

So this is somehow different than the Taliban beheading our dead soldiers and using their heads as trophies? I love the double-standards we like to put ourselves in.
