Re: BREAKING NEWS: Malaysia Airlines Says It Has Lost Contact With A Flight
Weren't there three Americans on that flight? Well then, why the heck hasn't the FBI and NTSB taken over and found the fucker by now? They weren't important enough? Not high-ranking government employees? |

Re: BREAKING NEWS: Malaysia Airlines Says It Has Lost Contact With A Flight
Unless the location of the airplane is determined, International Civil Aviation Organization protocols can't determine which country should lead the investigation (in this case it's being lead by Malaysia "by default" for obvious reasons). As far as i know, NTSB has sent a team of investigators accompained by technical advisers from Boeing and FAA, but at this stage all they can do is to offer assistance, that's far away from leading the investigation.

Re: BREAKING NEWS: Malaysia Airlines Says It Has Lost Contact With A Flight
It was a frequency that is allocated supposedly exclusively to aircraft black boxes...I don't think at any stage it was confirmed as a steady 37.5mhz..Although I may have missed that...I'm not sure if they got a clear run at some point without the noise of other ships searching the area.

Re: BREAKING NEWS: Malaysia Airlines Says It Has Lost Contact With A Flight
Yes, 37.5Hz per second: they're acoustic signals cannot be heard with human ears, and as Clubhouse correctly pointed out they could not be connected for sure to the plane FDR and CVR beacons; it became encouraging when aussies picked up two distinct pings return at the same frequency at the same time in the same point, that's more or less what exactly you'd expect from the black boxes, the sources were underwater for sure as the towed pinger locator on Ocean Shield was set up to detect only signals coming form "down" and those signals very hardly could come from biological sources. Unless some whale learned how to parrot the real ping and is having fun with the peeps involved with the SAR operations (which would make perfectly sense, at this point) |

Angus Houston the head of JACC has said pretty much the same thing although he is the guy who always adds to all these comments they should be taken with caution. |
