A Bakersfield, California boy suffered only minor injuries after what could have been a tragic dog attack was thwarted...by the family cat.

Harrowing security camera footage taken outside of the boy and cat's home show the boy playing on his bicycle in the driveway before being attacked, unprovoked, by the neighbor's unleashed dog. But before the dog can drag the boy down the driveway, in comes family cat Tara like a bolt of righteous fucking lightning to attack the dog and chase it away. Shortly thereafter, the boy's mother runs into the shot and picks him up. According to local Bakersfield news, the boy suffered minor injuries that required some stitches on his leg and the dog is now under observation. The cat, meanwhile, is now officially the best fucking cat in the history of the goddamn world. Seriously. I've had cats my entire life and they've all been delightful assholes who would probably watch me get murdered and then beg my murderer for a can of wet food before he leaves.

Bakersfield's 23ABC notes that America "will be hearing from the boy, the mother and the cat later in the day."

I will be watching entirely for the cat.

Also good parenting there, it didn't take the mom more then a few seconds to rush out there and help.

Most of the parents where I'm at probably wouldn't have noticed the kid was gone until he was in 4 different pieces And would have only cared cuz of the cut to their welfare check.

If there is ONE THING a dog doesn't like it's a fearless cat.

We had an adopted stray we rescued from a woodpile when i was a kid who grew up to be very fat, happy, and personable - even in his older years when i got my Pitbull and my mother had her German Shepard they would get up off the patio and part like the friggin' Red Sea when Wild Thing decided he wanted to spend a little time outside.
He'd waddle his fat-ass out there, flop down on the cement, roll around to he got comfy with his belly exposed, and give the dogs a menacing side-eye that said,
"Go ahead... try it..."

They never fucked with him once.

Seriously that was awesome, but WTF was going on with that dog? Those are some awful looking bites; I hope this doesn't freak the little boy on dogs the rest of his life. Any background on the dog? I have five catz and sometimes wonder how they'd react if I was under attack- they aren't very socialized.
