Geez... I live in a privileged midwestern town so it still shocks me to hear about American kids getting shot to death, let alone in one city within just a few weeks of each other. I hate this one, it's tragic! I hope they find who did it, and the real reason it was done (they hinted at the boyfriend's involvement somehow).

Also, I don't know what I would do if shots were being fired with a child of mine in the backseat. It's easy to say I'd stay and try to protect my child, but in reality, you just never know what the case may be. I'm sure hearing a round of gunshots go off right near your head would activate the fight-or-flight response. I do not blame this woman for running. Could she dive over the seat to get into the back? She was pregnant, uncoordinated, and probably only had a split second to think. Get out, run around the car to her toddler while bullets are whizzing through the air? We just don't know her mindset. She could've thought that going for help was the best choice, versus staying there so ALL could die. Either way, it's not her fault. It's the fucking guy who pulled the trigger. And now she's lost everything - her boyfriend, son, and unborn child.
