Re: Woman Found Alive After 17 Days in Bangladesh in Rubble

If it's not a miracle, it's close: i was so happy to hear this great news. 1000 people lost their lives, it's the death toll that you'd expect from some average 7.0 earthquake, ffs
The gov.t shut down three factories owned by the country's largest garment manufacturer, which has made clothes for Wal-Mart Stores and Sears Holdings. 18 more factories have been closed until safety improvements will be made.

She's the third longest collapse survivor: Naqsha Bibi survived on rotten food and water for 63 days after 2005 Pakistan quake, and Evans Monsignac was pulled out alive after 27 days of the 2010 Haiti tremor.
Never give up, whilst there's life, there's hope.

Wow, what a story

If I was certain no rescue workers would find me... I'm not so sure I would continue to eat for 15 days...
But if there were the slightest chance I could get myself out I'd be tunneling around like crazy.

Re: Bangladesh Factory Collapse Kills 149 People

its crazy how this doesnt even get a mention in our mainstream media, like no one gives a shit, its a fucked world we live in, 3 people die in bomb blast and its new for two weeks yet over a thousand die in a slave labour building and its just a little insert at the bottom of the "international" section of the newspaper.

Search teams resumed their rain-interrupted work Sunday as the death toll from the collapse of a Bangladesh garment factory building continued to climb past 1,100.

Overnight rainstorms had halted the recovery efforts, but by late morning the teams were back at work using hydraulic cranes, bulldozers, shovels and iron cutters as they continued looking for bodies more than two weeks after the eight-story building collapsed.

“We are still removing the rubble very carefully as dead bodies are still coming up,” said Maj. Moazzem Hossain, a rescue team leader. “The dead bodies are decomposed and beyond recognition.”

Hossain said they are trying to identify the bodies by their identity cards. “If we get the ID cards with the bodies then we are lucky,” he said.

I'll pass. Thank you. I was thinking about the nightclub fires when I was at a concert at a place called, "The Underground,", which was under street level, a few months ago.

No fire hazards, but, an old building. It was a great 30 years or so reunion for one of our most popular unknown local bands

Well, if you're going to die, might as well be enjoying the music, or whatever interest you have.
