Baby with Slit Throat, Mother Found Dead in Bed at Home in Fort Worth
A mother and her baby boy were found dead in bed late Thursday at their home in far north Fort Worth. The details of the incident are unclear, but the Fort Worth Police Department's homicide unit is leading the investigation, police spokesman Daniel Segura said. Fort Worth police said a man called 911 about 9:30 p.m after he arrived home in the 8500 block of Cactus Flower Drive and found his wife and child dead. The Tarrant County medical examiner's office identified the woman as 36-year-old Shanna Vandewege and the baby as 3-month-old Diederik Vandewege. The medical examiner determined that the baby had died from an "incised wound" to his neck. No information had been released on Shanna Vandewege's cause of death. Police said the husband, Craig Vandewege, was cooperating and that they had not yet identified any suspects. Mark Riddle, Shanna Vandewege's father, told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram that his daughter was ecstatic about welcoming her first child in August after suffering three miscarriages. Riddle, who lives in Colorado, said he'd been in Texas for the birth of baby Diederik and that he and other family members were looking forward to seeing the family next week when they'd planned to visit for Christmas. Riddle said Craig Vandewege, who works at Costco, had moved from Colorado to Fort Worth first to find the family a home earlier this year before Shanna Vandewege, a registered nurse, joined him. "They picked out the neighborhood that they thought was one of the best neighborhoods they could find," Riddle said. "Apparently it wasn't." Loved ones took to Facebook on Friday as they began to hear about the death of Shanna and Diederik Vandewege. Cindy Prevatt posted several photos and said, "I love you Shanna Riddle Vandewege and precious baby boy, RIP ... We will miss you so much." Brianna Ayala, an 18-year-old who lives down the street, told the Star-Telegram that she noticed commotion when she left to get food about 10:30 p.m. "They [the police] didn't come blazing in," she said. "They were quiet; that's what made me think something had already happened." http://www.dallasnews.com/news/fort-...use-police-say |

Re: Baby with Slit Throat, Mother Found Dead in Bed at Home in Fort Worth
Postpartum depression can be a beast. It was one of the critical reasons for the failure of my marriage. Despite that, I'm grateful my ex only took it out on me and never the kids like this vile woman did. |

Re: Baby with Slit Throat, Mother Found Dead in Bed at Home in Fort Worth
The Tarrant County Medical Examiner revealed Sunday 36-year-old Shanna Vandewege died from a cut to her neck similar to the wound that killed her infant son. still a riddle though. doubt it was a random attack by a simple burglar as killing a baby is more the work of someone who's related to the baby/family unless it's some drugged up crazy mofo looking for cash. Maybe the father has a second agenda but reading about him seems to indicate that there were no signs and actualy he was proud and a loving caring father. I can imagine the entire neighbourhood is getting nervous until some more evidence pops up. |
