Auto Accident Kills 2 Toddlers
Auto Accident Takes the Lives of Two Children Updated: Monday, 30 May 2011, 8:22 AM CDT Published : Sunday, 29 May 2011, 7:36 PM CDT Houston - A two vehicle accident took the lives of two young children on Sunday afternoon. Two girls, a 3 year-old and an 8 month-old were killed when the Chevrolet Suburban they were riding in collided with a Chevrolet Colorado. According to the Harris County Sheriff's Office, the pick-up truck hit the right side of the Suburban causing it to roll over and eject the kids. HCSO says that traffic lights at the intersection of Beltway 8 and Garrett Road in northeast Harris County were off about an hour before the 1:40 pm wreck. Centerpoint had turned off power to the lights so they could perform maintainence on power lines in the area. The intersection was not marked with temporary stop signs. Brenda Mendoza, 27, was driving the fully loaded Suburban with 5 adults and 11 children. A 71 year-old man was driving the Colorado. He had minor injuries. Drunk driving is not suspected in this crash. The accident is still under investigation.
