I don't really blame the audience for thinking it was a bizarre 'performance art' piece.I'm an artist who went to art college,and I like edgy material,but some of the 'art' done by the performance/installation artists was full of pointless gore & really weird shit.Germaine Greer even recounts in a book of going in the 1960s to see an 'artist' who was going to slit the throat of a goose on stage for his 'performance',until a mate,outraged by the whole thing,grabbed the birdie in question off stage & did a runner,later releasing it into a park pond. So when real 'art' gets this violent,no wonder they thought this was a performance.In a way it was,it just wasn't a fake one.
