Arizona Woman Allegedly Injects Husband's IV With Feces
The Huffington Post By Emily Thomas 01/31/2014 A 65 year old Arizona woman is being accused of attempted first degree murder after trying to inject her husband's IV with feces while he was recovering from heart surgery in a hospital room, police say. Authorities said staff at Chandler Regional Hospital found Rose Mary Vogel, a former nurse at the facility, tampering with her husband's IV after a warning alarm on the monitoring machines went off January 30, ABC 15 reports. According to the police report obtained by CBS 5, Vogel told the nurses who rushed into the room that the IV line needed to be flushed. Upon further inspection, one of the nurses noticed a brown substance in the line, removed it from the patient's arm and went for help, the station notes. The substance later tested positive for fecal matter. Three syringes were found in Vogel's purse, including one that appeared to contain traces of fecal matter and two of which contained fluid, police said, according to the Associated Press. Vogel's husband is expected to survive. · |
