Which would result in said paramedics being arrested. A paradmedic, sworn under the Hippocratic oath, is more likely to smother than use anything, no matter how much it's deserved, that would draw attention to foul play.

Smothering would cause suffering and most likely petechial hemorrhaging too. A huge morphine overdose would be a more likely method used, but could be discovered if the pathologist gets suspicious and orders for a toxicology report.
