Re: American Student Punished for Refusing to Recite Mexican Pledge I think it's one thing to learn and embrace the culture and to be given the option to recite pledges or sing songs. It's wrong in my opinion to force people to pledge to something they don't necessarily agree with. There should not be forced pledge of allegiance to a country or to God or anything like that in the classroom. Have it be an option for children, but don't punish them for not supporting something they don't like or belong to. I would feel weird saying a pledge to another country, personally. Why is it so difficult to just make compromises and make things optional, not obligatory? |

American Student Punished for Refusing to Recite Mexican Pledge I refused to recite the words "under God" during the pledge way back in the 80's. Imagine that! :p |
