Alabama Mom Pleads Guilty in Underground Bunker Child Torturing Ring
Centerville, Alabama — In a stunning courtroom development, Rebecca Cecile Brewer, 30, pleaded guilty on Thursday to 9 counts of first-degree kidnapping and one count of sexual torture. Brewer, identified as the mother of 4 of the victims, reached a plea agreement with prosecutors to testify against her 7 co-defendants. The charges carry a potential penalty ranging from 10 years to life imprisonment. The investigation originally began on February 4, 2025, after the Department of Human Resources alerted the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office. Law enforcement discovered a highly organized child sex trafficking ring operating out of a concrete storm shelter located on private property in Brent, Alabama. At least 10 children between the ages of 3 and 15 were identified as victims. The underground bunker was outfitted with a bed, chairs, a toilet, and a sink. Victims were drugged with liquid ecstasy and GHB and tied to beds or chairs to maintain compliance. Outside clientele paid for appointments to abuse the children, generating up to $1,000 per night. Accusations included severe sexual assault, bestiality and the use of animal training collars with shock capabilities on the children. "I've been in law enforcement for 33 years and this is absolutely the most horrible thing I've ever seen," Bibb County Sheriff Jody Wade stated. "I know God's forgiveness is boundless, but if there is a limit, we've reached it." Brewer had initially faced dozens of severe felony charges, including first-degree rape, sodomy, human trafficking, and aggravated child abuse. When initially arrested, Brewer claimed innocence to the media, stating, "I didn't do this. I love my babies." Her sudden guilty plea marks a major pivot in the prosecution’s strategy. While the exact details of her plea agreement remain sealed to protect the integrity of the ongoing prosecutions, officials confirmed she will turn state's evidence. Her formal sentencing has been deferred until the remaining cases are resolved. Following Brewer's plea, Bibb County Circuit Court officials announced that trials for the seven remaining defendants have been delayed. The court has introduced Circuit Judge Gregory S. Griggers to assist Judge Donald McMillan with handling the complex multi-defendant proceedings. The remaining 7 co-defendants are currently held without bond: Andres Trejo-Velazquez, Brewer’s former partner and father to three of the victims, William Chase McElroy, Dalton Terrell, Ricky Cecil Terrell, Sara Louise Terrell, Timothy St. John Jr. and Olivia Shailee Elam. The remaining defendants have denied the allegations, entering pleas of not guilty or not guilty by reason of mental disease or defect. The court still intends to run two trials simultaneously in separate courtrooms to expedite the process. Investigators from the Department of Homeland Security remain involved, as authorities are still working to identify as many as 15 to 20 outside clientele who paid to access the bunker. |
