Abandoned Oklahoma Puppy Survives Euthanasia Attempt

A three-month-old abandoned puppy in Oklahoma that was put in a dumpster after being declared dead by a vet was alive and looking for a new home Wednesday.

The puppy was abandoned outside a dog shelter in Sulphur, Okla., with the rest of his litter. They were sick when they were found, so a vet at the shelter decided to euthanize them.

The procedures were performed, then the puppies were put in a dumpster outside the shelter, local channel News 9 reported.

But when animal control officer Scott Prall took a peek inside the dumpster the next morning, one puppy was very much alive. "He was just as healthy as could be," Prall was quoted as saying.

The surviving puppy was named "WALL-E," after the garbage-collecting robot in the Disney-Pixar animated movie of the same name. In the movie, the loveable WALL-E was the last of his kind.

After the shock discovery, local vet Amanda Kloski took the puppy in temporarily. When a woman in Pennsylvania heard WALL-E's incredible story, she wrote about him on Facebook, prompting people from all over the US to call the veterinary clinic and offer him a home.

The clinic was set to look at offers from all the prospective owners Wednesday and make a decision about his new home.

"He needs a really special home because he's really special," Kloski said.

I'm sure you meant the pup was found with its siblings, not its litter. He/she looks a bit too young for parenthood.

Sad story, but with a happy ending.

Cute little thing, I would have offered him a home too, it's bloody wrong to throw them in a dumpster even if they are dead, a bit of decorum wouldnt go amiss, nice happy ending though me likes me likes a lot.

I want to open a no-kill shelter. I absolutely love dogs. Great story...I also agree dogs should never be put in a dumpster.

Me too!

The owner obviously never cared for them when they were born.

Re: Abandoned Oklahoma Puppy Survives Euthanasia Attempt

As much as I like the RSPCA....I don't like their methods, they euthanise animals if an owner can't be found, were as the "Dogs trust" will not euthanise (KILL) any healthy animal, but that has it's draw backs too, I worked at one of their animal shelters for a while and I saw some critters were it would have been more humane to put them to sleep rather than see them with "Kennel craze", they just never stop barking, and spin in circles and once they are out of their pen they can become extremely aggresive, so they will never be able to be re-homed and I just don't think it's fair on the dog to be honest.
