Re: 73% of Black American Children Are Born to Unmarried Women
We may have a black president, but this is hardly a coup for black people. Absolutely, things have changed significantly since 1964. But the fact of the matter remains that there were plenty of people who voted against Obama not because of ideological differences, but out of fear that the white man won't catch a break under a black president. Blacks are effected by their own 'Glass Ceiling'. The wage gap between whites and blacks performing the same task in the same industry is still significant. To WillArt, you said "soon minorities will out number whites...". This is a common fear. However, who is or isnt the majority by no means determines who is the dominate social group. There are countless instances were a minority group is also the dominate social group. So assuming white become a minority in America, this would not immediately mean that whites would stop being 'in charge'. Also, Affirmative Action does not solve the problem. All it does is treat a symptom. The problem has to be approached as close to its cause as possible, and I think drastically increasing spending on primary education would be one of the more realistic ways of treating the problem. |
