Seven members of the Navy SEAL Team 6, including one that helped kill Osama bin Laden, have been punished for leaking classified information to the maker of the video game "Medal of Honor: Warfighter.", Associated Press reported Friday.

"We do not tolerate deviations from the policies that govern who we are and what we do as sailors in the United States Navy," Rear Adm. Garry Bonelli, the deputy commander of the Naval Special Warfare Command, said in a statement to the AP.

Bonelli hinted at the nondisclosure agreements signed by members of the team.

Lt. Col. James Gregory, a spokesman for the Navy, did not immediately respond to emails and calls from TheWrap requesting comment.

The Navy alleged that the SEALs did not seek permission from commanders to work on the video game and revealed equipment specially crafted for their unit to the game's designers.

This is not the first leak this year from a member of the elite SEAL team.

Matt Bissonnette, a member of the raid that killed the al-Qaeda leader in Abbottabad, Pakistan last year, authored the memoir "No Easy Day" about the mission under the nom-de-plume Mark Owen, drawing the ire of the Pentagon.

The military also accused Bissonnette of breaking the nondisclosure agreement, though the soldier disputes the charge.

Whether or not they are out to make some cash to boost their income I dont see how this is worthy of punishment, in fact I'd hazard a guess that the Russians and Chinese are more aware of it now the Pentagon has jumped on this game and its supposed 'realistic' in-game items.

So whilst the enemies of the US might look at it and go "hmm, intewesting" they wouldn't be any the wiser unless the field kit was captured.
