4yo run over by ride-on mower


A four-year-old boy is in a serious condition in hospital after being run over by a ride-on lawn mower in Melbourne's south-east.

Paramedics say the boy's father was mowing at a commercial nursery on Thompson Road in Lyndhurst when he accidentally reversed over his son.

Andrew Burns of Ambulance Victoria says the child suffered horrific injuries to his abdomen and groin.

"I believe he ran out to say hello to his father who was mowing the lawn and his father coincidently put the machine into reverse and was unaware that the child was behind him and reversed over the child."
