$35 Worth of Pork Ribs Costs Felon 50 Years!
May 31, 2013 at 10:35AM by Zoe Bain, delish.com Stealing baby-back ribs is apparently a much more serious crime than it sounds. According to WacoTrib, Texas man, Willie Smith Ward, was recently sentenced to 50 years in prison after taking meat from a grocery store. His other four felony convictions may have had something to do with the harsh sentence, as he had previously been charged with burglary, attempted robbery, and aggravated assault. It seems Ward's latest hankering for ribs was the final straw, and the jury only took two minutes to convict him for the robbery charges. After an hour the group decided on a 50-year punishment for the $35 worth of pork ribs. The theft was originally classified as a robbery because Ward had threatened an employee by stating he was also carrying a concealed knife after the employee noticed the baby-back rib shaped bulge tucked underneath his shirt. · |

He's going to take some ribbing in the prison population over this one. Lucky he didn't receive baby-back to back life sentences. |

I knew it had to be in Texas before I even read this lol. So, the guy had 1 violent previous offense and now the tax payers are gonna have to take care of him for the next 50 years. Makes perfect sense |

Not for the ribs but for implying he had a weapon which makes it aggravated assault and armed robbery, no matter how small the item. He's a habitual offender too which usually guarantees him life. Let him rot
