The driver left the kids onboard, he din't told them to get off the bus, which would have been the FIRST thing to do before handling gasoline not only in proximity, but even INSIDE the bus;
as he tried to start the engine (which had stalled)

Sparks flew, it was then that the driver went to get water and then he left.

At the first attempt to start the engine the fire started, the driver said that he was going to get some water to extinguish the fire, then vanished.
The people who threw rocks at his windows had planned to lynch him, of course they weren't there just to cause 50$ worth of damage to his windows.

A man left his sons and 29 more kids to burn alive to save his ass, and he gave himself up to the police for the same reason.

P.S.: The evangelical church leader who had chartered the bus was also arrested
