At least 20 people have been hurt in a firework explosion after a Spanish town's fiesta extravaganza went horribly wrong.
The terrifying blast blew-out the windows at nearby homes and shops and left many people suffering burns and injuries from flying glass .
Residents and visitors were watching a firework show over the town's bridge as part of the closing ceremony for the Magdalena Festival in Cangas de Narcea, in Asturias.
But people were sent fleeing in terror when one of the stores of fireworks waiting to be used exploded at around midnight after a rocket is believed to have gone off course and set them alight.
Horrified members of the crowd said they heard a "huge roar" as the fireworks exploded, blowing out windows in houses and shops and demolishing several walls.
Police had to set up road blocks and bring in extra patrols because of fears of looting. One of the buildings affected was a bank.
Medics rushed to the scene and a local medical centre was opened to treat the wounded. Most had cuts from the flying glass but at least one of the firework display organisers suffered burns.
