No photos of the scumbags yet. What kind of piece of shit parenting is this? If the dog had been there before the baby, chances are the dog would have been protective, but, I guess the dog thought the baby was a toy or something.

SUMMERVILLE, S.C. -- A 2-month-old child was killed and dismembered by a dog in his family's South Carolina home as his father slept, authorities said Friday.

Aiden McGrew's mother called 911 when she got home around 11 a.m. and discovered the boy's leg was severed by a retriever-Labrador mix the family had taken into the home a few weeks earlier, Dorchester County deputies said.

The boy died at the hospital a short time later, Coroner Chris Nisbet said in a news release. Nisbet said the boy was bitten and dismembered, but he refused to answer additional questions about the infant's injuries. An autopsy was scheduled for Saturday.

"Today is one of the saddest days in my 20+ years of being in the Dorchester County Coroner's Office as I report to all of you one of the worst deaths I have ever handled," Nisbet wrote in his email to the media, which had the subject line "Today's Nightmare."

McGrew's mother was taking the family's 7-year-old child to the doctor. The father was sleeping in a bedroom with a 3-year-old child, while the baby was in a swing outside that room, Dorchester County Sheriff L.C. Knight said.

Investigators are still trying to sort out how the attack unfolded. The father was being questioned by deputies Friday afternoon, Knight said.

"It's terrible. I don't want to go into details about exactly what happened because the investigation is still ongoing," Knight said. "It was a real bad scene."

The two other children in the home have been taken into protective custody, Knight said. Prosecutors are also following the case and the sheriff expects all the investigators will meet next week to discuss if any charges should be filed.

A woman answering a number listed for the home refused to talk about what happened and told a reporter to not call her back.

What kind of lunatic leaves an infant with a sleeping caregiver while a three year old is also sleeping?

IF the mother was going to do that, she should have locked the baby in the room with the other two and the dog outside. She may not have told the guy she was leaving.

These things piss me off royally! If you don't want the children or can't take care of them properly, either use birth control, which does work, if you use it, or give them to the women who want children and are unable to get pregnant!

Does it really take a genius to realize that leaving a predator with your child is not a good idea?

Fortunately, we've had good dogs in our family, who were in the houses before the babies and they both slept by the babies and woke my brother if they didn't hear the babies, as if they were guarding them.

When my oldest niece had her second baby, they had a Yorkie. At first, he was kind of jealous. Now, they're buddies. Their neighbor has eight months old triplets and I'm not sure how old their pit bull/boxer mix is, but, I asked the parents how he got along with the babies. The mother said he was kind of sad at first, so I'm guessing he is pretty young. The dog was there first.

I was glad their dog and my niece's were buddies because of the size difference, but, they've been in each other's yards. I didn't want Lewis to eat Tigger :)

And, more importantly, to harm the babies.

The article stated the dog had only been there a couple of weeks and I don't recall an age. Probably jealousy of the dog for the baby. I'm sure you know some dogs who think they're people :)
