The deer was already dead when the snake found it and ate it.

Because they dont want the python population getting out of control and moving north.

This info is from a article i read from FL when this happened.

Boa's don't actually crush their prey, but, rather, suffocate it, by squeezing it so its lungs will not be able to expand enough to take in fresh air. Miserable way to die, I reckon. But that's Mom Nature.
Not a boa but a burmese python.
