Re: 150 dead when Germanwings Flight 4U9525 Crashes into French Alps
BERLIN - The co-pilot suspected of deliberately crashing an airliner, killing 150 people, had told his girlfriend he was planning a spectacular gesture so "everyone will know my name," a German daily said on Saturday. The Bild newspaper published an interview with a woman who said she had had a relationship in 2014 with Andreas Lubitz, the man French prosecutors believe locked himself alone in the cockpit of the Germanwings Airbus on Tuesday and steered it into the French Alps, killing all on board. "When I heard about the crash, I remembered a sentence ... he said: 'One day I'll do something that will change the system, and then everyone will know my name and remember it'," said the woman, a flight attendant the paper gave the pseudonym of Maria W. "I didn't know what he meant by that at the time, but now it's obvious," she said. "He did it because he realized that, due to his health problems, his big dream of working at Lufthansa, of a having job as a pilot, and as a pilot on long-distance flights, was nearly impossible." "He never talked much about his illness, only that he was in psychiatric treatment," she told the paper, adding they finally broke up because she was afraid of him. "He would suddenly freak out in conversations and yell at me," she recalled. "At night he would wake up screaming 'we are crashing' because he had nightmares. He could be good at hiding what was really going on inside him." The woman also told Bild: "We always talked a lot about work and then he became a different person. He became upset about the conditions we worked under: too little money, fear of losing the contract, too much pressure." A Lufthansa spokesman declined to comment. The company and its low-cost subsidiary Germanwings took out full-page advertisements in major German and French newspapers on Saturday, expressing "deepest mourning." Lufthansa and Germanwings offered condolences to the friends and families of the passengers and crew and thanked the thousands of people in France, Spain and Germany it said had helped since the crash. German officials said there would be a ceremony on April 17 in Cologne Cathedral attended by German Chancellor Angela Merkel and senior officials from other countries including France and Spain. Also on Saturday, relatives of the Germanwings captain whom Lubitz locked out of the cockpit before the crash visited a memorial to the victims in the French Alps, while a special mass was held at the small cathedral in nearby Digne-les-Bains. http://vancouver.24hrs.ca/2015/03/28...-to-girlfriend |

Re: 150 dead when Germanwings Flight 4U9525 Crashes into French Alps
The thing is he may not have actually been feeling suicidal when he started the flight...Who knows what goes on in someone's mind suffering with severe mental illness....They said the chat between him and the Captain had been normal and even some banter until they reached 38,000 feet and the Captain started to discuss approach and landing plans..It was then that he became laconic, was it because he had a visual of the Alps and it set the depression to full on?....Truth is nobody will ever know for sure what triggered his actions.

Looks like the passengers were aware of what was going on long before originally thought That's 10 min before it crashed |

Low cost co. means more working hours with less. Imagine you're an astronaut - you're dream job - and have to go to the moon 20 times a month. I hear pilots on tv talk about everything but this. So this might happen again. Soon. |

Re: 150 dead when Germanwings Flight 4U9525 Crashes into French Alps
I am completely amazed that things like this don't happen 1,000x more often than they do. I am totally mystified as to why heads are not rolling and blood isn't running continually in the streets. I know too much about - the real - human nature. The one below the surface. The one that operates behind "The Mask of Sanity". |

Re: 150 dead when Germanwings Flight 4U9525 Crashes into French Alps
Terrified Germanwings passengers screamed for more than five minutes as the doomed plane crashed. Disturbing account of the cockpit voice recordings from black box of plane that smashed into French Alps. ![]() Terrified passengers of the doomed Germanwings Airbus 320 screamed for more than five minutes during the disaster which claimed 150 lives. Marseille prosecutor Brice Robin has given a disturbing account of the cockpit voice recordings extracted from black box. At 10:29am on the day of the disaster, the plane's descent is picked up by flight radar monitors, which air traffic controllers trying to contact the aircraft by 10:32am, which is when the aircraft's 'sink rate' alarm sounds. Then co-pilot Andreas Lubitz locked his captain Patrick Sondenheimer, 34, out of the flight deck as he cried: ‘Open the goddamn door! For God’s sake open the door!’ and in the background the chilling sound of passengers screaming can be heard. A "Ground! Pull up! Pull up!" warning is then heard. The Germanwings plane hits the Alps at 430mph at 10:40am and the last sounds heard are the terrified screams of passengers. Robin said: ‘The intention was to destroy the plane. Death was instant. The plane hit the mountain at 700kmh (430mph).” Germanwings confirmed Lubitz had kept all details of his sick notes - which covered the day of the crash - from them. Referring to Lubitz, Mr Robin said: ‘He did this for a reason which we don’t know why, but we can only deduct that he destroyed this plane. It comes as it is revealed Lubitz's girlfriend, Kathrin Goldbach, is pregnant with his child. The process of identifying the bodies of the 149 crash victims in the Alps is now underway, and Germany’s most prestigious forensic scientist, Professor Michael Tsokos said Lubitz’ remains have been found among the 600 body parts. DNA tests have confirmed the body parts are his and it is hoped they will provide a clue to the treatment he was receiving. A road has been built in the Alps leading to the crash site so workers can carry out the traumatic task which is expected to take at least three weeks. Senior investigator have said the 27-year-old co-pilot “was treated by several neurologists and psychiatrists” and that a number of medications had been found in his apartment. Police also discovered personal notes that showed Lubitz suffered from “severe subjective overstress symptoms.” Lufthansa, the parent company of the budget airline, said the carrier was unaware of a or any other illness affecting Lubitz. “We have no information of our own on that,” a Lufthansa spokesman said. A spokesman for state prosecutors declined to comment adding there would be no official statement before Monday. Daily Mirror |

Re: 150 dead when Germanwings Flight 4U9525 Crashes into French Alps
fuck thats heart breaking side note- I get the feeling a few people are making a lot of money out of this (the media goes without saying) It seems people are selling their story before even being questioned by the police/investigators. It may be the mother to be or it may not but whomever gave the info with regard to a posible pregnancy is a sick fucking puppy. If its bullshit, well we expect that from the peddlers of salacious rumours and hacked emails. If its true then its fucking low to run that story. |
