Re: 150 dead when Germanwings Flight 4U9525 Crashes into French Alps
This torn up sick note.....Maybe in some professions that are safety critical such as pilots, train operators or ships captains and large numbers of lives are dependent on an individuals good mental health, doctors confidentiality should be ignored and have a duty to report it to their employers directly.....It wouldn't be fool proof as some will then avoid their doctors but then the employer should insist that they see the company doctor for regular checks.

So Lufthansa has an impeccable flying safety record and this one incident means that Germans are fucked up....You're not one of life's great thinkers are you? |

Re: 150 dead when Germanwings Flight 4U9525 Crashes into French Alps
http://katm.co.uk/breaking-audio-of-...lane-released/ As it says the last 60 seconds of the plane before it crashes you can clearly hear the door being kicked in this as the first officer try's desperately to gain his way back into the cockpit By the way there are no screams or bang on this

Re: 150 dead when Germanwings Flight 4U9525 Crashes into French Alps
I don't believe for one minute that is the Germanwings CVR....The biggest giveaway IS the lack of frantic attacks on the cockpit door, the "breathing" that could be CLEARLY heard or the screaming of passangers...And the automated voice command "PULL UP...PULL UP...PULL UP" set off by the proximity warning detectors.

Re: 150 dead when Germanwings Flight 4U9525 Crashes into French Alps
What they do need is a way the flight deck crew can contact ground who can unlock the door via a radio signal to the locking mechanism...Maybe certain security words so the ground know that the flight officer can prove who he is and that he hasn't a gun or some such pointed at his head.

Re: 150 dead when Germanwings Flight 4U9525 Crashes into French Alps
Okay, let's delve deeper into this guy's psyche? If he was in such a depressed state that he was (obviously) suicidal, and possible delusional, he might have been "saving" those people from the evils of the world and taking them or sending them to heaven. It's a possibility. I think that has been the case in some of the infanticide cases. Maybe this is like that on a large scale. Just trying to make sense of it, not that there is any. I cannot watch anymore news on this, it's just too overwhelmingly sad. As far as the technical side of it-- all I have to add is that there should absolutely be three flight officers on every aircraft, even on a computerized or whatever this is plane. I'm old-school. Shit happens. Health issues happen. And there should be backups for backups. Mechanical switches for electronic locks that only the flight deck crew know about or something. That's how my aircraft were. Then again, mine were old, built in the sixties when that was a necessity. Maybe old is better in this case. (Mine as in the ones I worked on, not flew.) Edit: And while not in the US anymore, they are still flying, with hardly any mishaps. |
