According to reports from Houston Police Department (HPD), an 11-year-old was fatally shot while playing a prank on a neighbor.

HPD report that the child and several of his friends were ringing doorbells and running away before the homeowners could answer.

This happened on Saturday night at a home on Mimbrough in Southeast Houston. According to HPD, the boy was shot in the back.

No other injuries were reported. One person was detained for questioning and released. The investigation into the shooting continues.

In Houston, Texas, the police arrested the migrant Gonzalo León, 42 years old, for fatally shooting 11-year-old Julián Guzmán on the night of last Saturday, after the boy and others played a prank by ringing his doorbell.

In the video recorded with Guzmán's mobile phone, gunshots and gasps can be heard. Despite receiving medical attention, the child died the next day.

The cousin stated that he did not know how to react to what he had until then only seen "in movies," so he limited himself to trying to pick up the body.

The killer, a former military man, had the murder weapon at his home along with 20 others, as well as tactical and smoke grenades.

He was found by the police in a hotel with his wife and 2-year-old son, after they left their home upon seeing themselves surrounded by the media.

One of the problems is that it is frequently NOT just knocking on the door or ringing the doorbell. Kids are actually kicking in the door, which for me would be enough to result in a shooting for sure. People are getting less forgiving of these games than they used to be. But I think this guy kind of over-reacted, especially if they were running away. But if he felt threatened, under Texas law, then he's in the clear. But he ruined his own life as well as the kid's.
