Bethany Thompson, 11, got off the school bus in Ohio last week and shot herself on her back porch, her mom, Wendy Feucht, told The Columbus Dispatch.

Bethany only shared what she was going to do with one of her close friends, Feucht told the paper.

“She told her she loved her and that she was her best friend forever, but that she was going to kill herself when she got home,” said Feucht.

Feucht said that she is certain that bullying led to Bethany’s death.

Bethany endured brain cancer eight years ago and after having a tumor removed was left with a “crooked” smile.

It was that smile that kids at school allegedly noticed and picked on, according to Bethany’s dad, Paul Thompson.

“I think that’s why she took (her life),” Thompson told the Columbus Dispatch.

Feucht later learned that Bethany had created anti-bullying posters but an administrator at school reportedly prevented her from displaying them because they weren’t positive.

“I’m sure she felt pretty defeated,” Feucht said.

Superintendent Chris Piper told the paper that he is trying not to speculate about what caused Bethany to feel hopeless.

“Suicide is a complicated act. We’re trying to find the cause,” Piper said. “And there’s no single thing that says this is what led to it.”

Piper acknowledged the fact that Bethany was bullied last year, but declined to provide details. He reportedly said the matter had been resolved.

Kids can be assholes. I was bullied at school, until my dad taught me to box, to stand up for myself, and fight back. Bullies for the most part are bitch-ass pussies themselves, and just need to be stood up to.

The problem today is that internet access makes it insanely easy to bully someone on social media. Of course, one can simply remove themselves from it, and then if the bullies dare to do it face-to-face, you go back to point one, and punch them in the nose. I got detention for it, but I was honest with the principal and my teachers: When folks stop picking on me for being too smart or not having a "regular" name, then I'll stop breaking their noses. Simple.

The bullying stopped after a couple of months, and it was all over, thankfully. Some kids sadly can't handle it, and can't stand up for themselves for a whole host of reasons. Bloody sad that someone so young felt it necessary to end her life after winning such a long and more worthwhile battle against cancer.

I was never bullied but i can say that real tough guys pick on their own size.
I always treated people how i want to be treated.
Sounds cliche but its true..

I was my father's caregiver in his final days of brain cancer which left him with obvious physical ailments. As I was always by his side, at times I would literally have to carry him because it would affect his walking. I know how cruel people can be and I was very observant to people's reactions and gestures to him and always on the ready to curb stomp someones skull if something derogatory was ever mentioned towards him. This is so sad and my heart goes out to her family!
