1 Hour into Custody for Allegedly Assaulting Police Officer, East Orange Man Dies.
MT. PLEASANT, Mich. — A 35-year-old East Orange man died in custody in a Michigan jail over the weekend, an hour after being brought in on charges of assaulting a police officer, authorities said. Bradford T. Gibson was found lifeless in his cell at 3 a.m. Saturday at the Isabella County Correctional Facility in Mt. Pleasant, Mich., the county sheriff, Leo Mioduszewski, said in a statement. Gibson had been brought to the jail at 2 a.m. Saturday after being charged by Mt. Pleasant police with being a disorderly person, two counts of obstructing and resisting a police officer and aggravated assault on an officer, Mioduszewski said. "CPR was immediately initiated, but unfortunately, was not successful," the release stated. An autopsy had not yet been scheduled. Neither the sheriff’s office nor Mt. Pleasant police responded to requests for comment. In his statement, the sheriff said he and Mt. Pleasant had asked the Michigan State Police to investigate the incident, which is customary in a custody death. Lt. Joseph Thomas of the state police today said he had no information on the case. The sheriff’s statement did not mention the location or other circumstances of the arrest, the nature of the officer’s injuries or whether Gibson had suffered any injuries himself. Mayor Bruce Kilmer of Mt. Pleasant said he had no knowledge of the incident beyond the information in the press release. No relatives of Gibson's could be located for comment today. The jail is located in Mt. Pleasant, which is the seat of Isabella County, located about 120 miles northwest of Detroit, in the palm of Michigan’s mitten. With an estimated population of 26,675 in 2008, the town is home to the main campus of Central Michigan University, as well as the Isabella Indian Reservation, site of the Soaring Indian Casino. |

Suspicious? sick of hearing it, cops are not my favourite people but not every death has to do with the cops.  |

Mt. Pleasant is about 2 hours from me. Medium sized town - good place to raise kids. But...they killed him. Wonder if it was a college kid.

shit guys, cops are just trying to do their jobs. Yea I break the law plenty, but not all cops are monsters. He assaulted the LE officers anyway

Oh no, I'd be suspicious. East Orange has a terrible system. Them and Newark. So mismanaged, so many questionable things.

On a list of importance" Death While In Custody" should rank immediatly as a homicide until proven otherwise. Police do not nor should not have that authority. The Feds will be up their ass for along time coming. People think the cops get away with stuff but they dont. The Federal Government may not publiclly damn these cops but They sure as hell will be riding them for years. Even that Arizona Sheriff is getting raked through the coals.
