A fight inside a classroom at a the José Chediak State State School in Parque São Lucas, in the East Zone of São Paulo, ended with a 17-year-old student being injured by scissors from a classmate.

The fight resulted in the Military Police being called to the school. When officers arrived, they found the victim of the attacks in the bathroom trying to stop the injuries to her face. Rescue was requested, and the young woman was taken to the Mooca Emergency Care Unit.

The attacker is 18 years old and told police that the fight started after the other young woman pushed a table against her. She also said that the two had already had disagreements on other occasions. On Tuesday (5), for example, they allegedly fought and she was kicked in the face.

The young woman also reported that she had been repeatedly threatened by her 17-year-old classmate and that her parents had already requested action from the school. According to the police report, the young woman allegedly resorted to cutting her "in self-defense."

Because the young woman was hospitalized, she was unable to testify. The case was registered as a bodily injury at the 42nd Precinct (Parque São Lucas).

In a statement, the State Department of Education (Seduc-SP) stated that the school acted promptly to contain the situation, separating the students involved and immediately contacting SAMU, the Child Protective Services Council, the School Patrol, and legal guardians. According to the department, the student was treated, released from the hospital, and is doing well at home.

"A regional team from the School Coexistence and Protection Improvement Program is closely monitoring the case. Awareness-raising activities are planned to promote a culture of peace at the school. Additionally, a professional from the Psychologists in Schools program has been assigned to assist the student," the statement concluded.
