I don't expect y'all to care, but the transphobic comments on this video (and elsewhere on DR) are the last straw for me. I'm done with this site. Misgendering transgender people, calling them "trannies", or saying he/she contributes to dehumanizing them and making insecure straight men think it's okay to murder them. The life expectancy for transwomen of color is 35 in North America. I've tried to ignore the amount of bigotry towards trans people I've seen on this site but fuck. That video could be me. I don't fit with gender norms and a lot of people fuck with me based on how I look. I carry a knife on the bus for that reason. Yeah the woman should not have gotten into this dudes face but he only hurt her that badly because as a society we normalize and justify violence towards gender non-conforming people. |
