The 17-year-old Florida teen accused of brutally attacking a high school employee will be charged as an adult. The student faces one felony count of aggravated battery on an elected official or education employee.

He's also being held on a $1 million bond.

The teen was arrested last Tuesday at Matanzas High School in Palm Coast, FL after Flagler County School Resource Deputies responded to a report of an employee being physically attacked on campus.

Surveillance footage appears to show Joan Naydich walking through the halls, before turning around, only to be pushed to the ground by a student, reportedly knocking her unconscious. He then appears to kick and punch her, as other employees attempt to restrain him.

Per the sheriff's office, the suspect -- who reportedly lives in a group home -- is about 6'6" and weighs around 270 pounds.

I was thinking the same. If he was in fact security, he needs to be fired. Who the hell has a "walk, don't run" approach in an emergency situation where every blow/kick could prove to be fatal.

Obviously that kid has chromosomal damage and should be separated from sheep society and locked up in adult wolf society and learn what it feels like to be an abused sheep for a change. He'll never be normal but some experience with empathy might condition him to control his violent tendencies someday

That was a Marine Corp recruiter, they are typically told to stay out of incidents at schools, including fights as it could look bad with a Marine kicking the shit out of a student.

I do believe there is a video somewhere of a Marine getting involved in a fight between two students at a school somewhere.

Attorneys for Brendan Depa, a 6-foot-6, 270-pound teenager, say the school district is responsible for ruining Depa's life.

"The district must be held accountable for its failures, which have forever changed the trajectory of this young man's life," they argued.

The attorneys said the special needs program should have known that taking electronic devices away from Depa was a "trigger."

The teacher attacked by Depa suffered broken ribs and a concussion.

Brendan Depa a 17 yr old with autism is facing serious time after an altercation in the classroom occurred.

His family is seeking placement in a behavioral therapeutic school paid by the school district. As well as “out-of-pocket costs for tutoring fees and mental health services”

While I do agree the altercation should have never happened, the school district is at fault. The teacher should have been given the proper resources to deal with this student.

Depa faces 30 years in prison and is scheduled to be sentenced on May 1.
