In the early days, skaters (like me) did downhill, slalom, curb jumps, rode stairs and laid plywood on staircases for ramping. It was fun, used the urban landscape and didn't hurt a thing. Then skaters decided it was cool to hop and grind, destroying benches, railings, etc. That's when the "No Skateboarding" ordinances and signs appeared. Skaters did it to themselves by being destructive a-holes.  |
