Last Friday, a 14 year old teenager, educated in 3rd at the Guillaume Apollinaire College in the 15th arrondissement was attacked by at least 10 individuals shortly after leaving classes in Paris.

"Yuriy was with some friends on the street after class, it was between 5 pm and 6 pm", related his cousin Petro. “A bunch of individuals arrived, apparently from Vanves. They were obviously looking for young people from the neighborhood.

A story of rival gangs, it seems. They must have thought that Yuriy was one of the people they were looking for. When my cousin tried to run he fell to the ground and there they beat him up. "I really don't think Yuriy was in any way involved in this kind of thing." It happened 6 days before he turned 15.

Alerted by witnesses, police and firefighters quickly arrived on the scene. The attackers already fled the scene leaving the victim on the ground. Supported by the emergency services, Yuriy was admitted to the hospital urgently.

"When I saw him in the fire engine, his skull was split in several places, it was really horrible. They assaulted him with iron bars. He told me he did not know the people, he was cold and he didn't want not die," says Nataliya, Yuriy's mother.

The mother of two other little girls, and of Ukrainian origin, lodged a complaint and contacted the Ukrainian Embassy in France to inform her of the tragedy. Thursday, the Paris prosecutor's office confirmed to us that an investigation had been opened on January 15, 2021 on the count of "attempted homicide".

He suffered a broken nose, arm, ribs, shoulders, fingers and cracks in his skull. He was put in an induced come and underwent a 6 hours operation.
