On August 6, police in Charlotte, North Carolina arrested 32-year-old Di-Quan Schafar Hunt after shocking video footage circulated on social media showing him randomly attacking women on the street.

The video, filmed by himself, that sparked global outrage captures an incident on East Boulevard in the Dilworth neighborhood.

As a 55-year-old woman passed him on the sidewalk, Hunt yelled "Nah, don't wave at me" into the camera, then suddenly punched her directly in the face.

The victim was knocked unconscious by the blow and lay motionless on the ground. Hunt then stood over her, shouting incoherent insults and death threats.

The woman was transported to the hospital with severe but non-life-threatening injuries. She has since been released and is recovering at home.

Following his arrest by the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, Hunt was placed under an involuntary psychiatric commitment at a medical facility due to his unstable mental state. Once cleared, he faces formal charges of assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury.

Hunt is a known repeat offender with at least nine arrests between October 2023 and December 2025 for violent offenses, including assaults on women and communicating threats. He repeatedly went free due to dismissed charges or lenient plea deals without serving significant jail time.

Police investigations confirmed there was no real-world incident involving Hunt, his son, a McDonald's, or Donald Trump on July 21. Hunt repeatedly screams July 21st!, "What's up with that McDonald's shit?",and claims that random bystanders raped his son.

His screams about that specific date were entirely the result of severe psychotic delusions. Hunt’s family publicly stated that he suffers from paranoid schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. Because he had stopped taking his psychiatric medication, he fell into a deep, violent state of psychosis.

His family has since begged the courts to keep him locked up or placed in a permanent psychiatric facility, stating they had tried for years to get him help before his psychosis turned this violent.
